How I got started : My name is Vanessa and I’d like to tell you about my journey as a medium... I first became aware of the spirit world back in 2013 when I saw (clairvoyance) a shadow spirit (ghost) walking down the side of my porch. I could tell that he was an older man and I had a knowing (claircognizance) that he was the man who many years ago, had lived on the property that I now live on. I was shocked about how chill I was, there was not one ounce of fear. From that point on, strange things started happening, not in a frightening way but just someone or something trying to get my attention. I was more than curious and started researching the after life and mediumship. I fell in love with how mediumship changed lives and allowed those grieving to move towards healing. I knew this was something that I was meant to do. I continued to have encounters with spirits and that’s when I decided to get some formal training. Once I learned how to purposely connect and blend with spirit I begin to acknowledge that we are so much more than our skin, bones and this human body. We are not a human who has a soul, we are a soul that is having a human experience.

Learning how : After the spirit world came knocking on my door (literally standing on my porch) I started getting signs for what felt like months. These signs kept pointing me in the direction of mediumship, it was exciting at first but then it became serious, I had some hardcore decisions to make. One day I was driving down the street contemplating and asking God what to do about my thriving at home business, should I stop my business or keep going at it even though my heart was leading me somewhere else. Within minutes, clear as day a song came on the jazz station that pretty much summed it all up for me. The song was “Change My Occupation” by Jay Leonhart. I’d never heard of this song before. I started laughing my ass off then I went straight into tears, next was a combination of both laughter and tears, I needed windshield wipers for my eyes.

I then set out to read any book I could get my hands on regarding the afterlife and mediumship. I took a year long course with the Shift Network and learned what it actually means to be psychic, to connect with another person via soul to soul (my soul to your soul, that’s it, that’s what psychic means) . Through the Shift Network, I had an amazing mediumship mentor teacher, Cathy Burgess, who pushed me to be a better version of me and created a space that allowed me to keep going when I wanted to give up. I then was invited to sit in a practice circle hosted by Jordon Richards in Manchester, UK. Jordon provided a safe space for me to practice my mediumship. I was encouraged to be myself and work in a way that felt authentic to me. I will be forever grateful for this foundational freedom. I then joined VerySoul which is a platform for budding mediums to practice with each other and it’s free to join. I like to sum it up as a playground for mediums because there are so many practice circles, support groups for mediums, special speaker events and so much more. I have met and worked with so many amazing mediums from all over the world. I took a mentorship course from Severine with Silver Lining Readings, she taught the importance of understanding thyself, confidence, and the details that make mediumship a wow factor. As an Evidential Medium, I will be forever a student at times a teacher. The learning never stops. My most influential teacher is Spirit, I have learned to trust in what I already know in my soul, I trust in the signs Spirit leaves for me and most of all, I’ve learned to quiet my mind to hear the soft subtle voice of Spirit.
